Meet Mary:
Since childhood, I have cherished opportunities to listen to others express wisdom revealed through lived experiences. These encounters continue to convey connections through imagination (mind), senses (body), and intuition (spirit).
While timeless integrations of Faith, Hope, and Love
(1 Corinthians 13 NIV) guides life through adversity or change, to recover and move forward, while shifting into a continued effort to achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition.
I received my certification from Mercy by the Sea in 2018.
To further my desire to also specialize in Spiritual Direction with Children, I received training from Lacy Finn Borgo of Good Dirt Ministries through the Companioning Center in 2020. (not currently meeting with children)
I accompany students and adults in spiritual direction virtually and locally through Fairfield University’s Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
My lifelong desire is to discover the presence of a loving God within all things and to guide others through their own discoveries while inspiring the imagination, creativity, and a sense of healing.
I have a Spiritual Director of my own and attend ongoing programs to nurture my spirituality.
I appreciate learning from diversified practices including opportunities through Fairfield University’s Murphy Center for Ignatian Spirituality, Fordham’s Graduate School for Religious Studies, Center for Action and Contemplation, Mercy by the Sea, Christian Contemplative Experience, Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hanh, and Vox Church.
Some practices I revisit to nurture myself in self-compassion include: The Daily Examen, Contemplative Prayer, Lectio Divina, Visio Divina, Centering Prayer, and Praying in Color.
One of my favorite go-to poems to meditate with is, The Guest House, by Rumi.
I have enjoyed storytelling and facilitating class discussions to incorporate contemplative practices for children ages 5-9 at a parochial school.
